Full event details

During this taster day, you will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to study on a course at NTU related to the Built Environment.

The Property Management and Development part of the day includes four core courses: Property Finance and Investment, Real Estate, Building Surveying, and Property Development and Planning. During the session, you’ll learn about each course and its relevance to the Built Environment, working to create a city model that reflects your ideas about urban development and value. You will also discover drone-based surveying tools, learning how aerial imaging and data capture can support analysis and improvement of urban design.

During the Civil Engineering taster you can explore how engineering meets the needs of societies & communities whilst also addressing sustainability, and how infrastructure shapes our world.  Get hands-on as you build and test your own mini bridge, exploring the principles that keep structures safe and resilient. Chat with current Civil Engineering students to hear what studying the subject is really like, from projects and fieldwork to student life. You'll also enjoy a guided tour of our state-of-the-art engineering labs, where cutting-edge research and real-world innovation come to life.

You will also have a chance to explore two key roles in the construction industry - the Construction Manager and the Quantity Surveyor. Both of these professions are responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed on time, on budget and to the expected quality. To experience this, you will take part in an interactive activity where estimating time and cost are a critical first step, and then you will get to put your plan into action, and see how accurate you really were.

This experience day can help enhance your personal statement for applications to University.
