Give your Year 12 students the chance to experience university level thinking and explore subjects beyond the curriculum at our UCL Numbers in the Real World Schools and Colleges Conference.
Event type: In person
Date : 18 May 2026
Time: 10:30 – 15:00
This event brings together multiple UCL academic departments to explore numbers in the real world from a range of disciplinary perspectives. Through a series of short, engaging talks, each delivered by a different department, students will see how diverse subjects connect to the topic and how interdisciplinary study shapes real research at university.
Designed specifically for Year 12 groups, the conferences offer students the opportunity to:
- Discover new subject areas and academic pathways
- Deepen their understanding of a thought-provoking theme
- Experience the format and atmosphere of an academic conference
- See how different disciplines collaborate to tackle complex questions
- Build confidence and curiosity ahead of Year 13 and university applications
These events are ideal for schools looking to broaden students’ subject awareness, stretch high-attaining learners, or provide meaningful enrichment linked to careers and higher education preparation.
Places at our conferences are limited. Because this event is an Access and Widening Participation initiative, we will prioritise schools who have a high number of students who meet our widening participation criteria.
We encourage schools to select students who they feel may benefit the most from the visit, by considering factors such as Free School Meal or Pupil Premium eligibility and potential to attend university.
Please note that submitting this form does not guarantee the allocation of places. We will respond within two working days to confirm whether we are able to offer the places you have requested.
