NTU Paper Chain Factory
In this session you would have the opportunity to build and simulate your own paper Chain factory. We will use your paper chain producing factory to learn about one of the core threshold concepts in Economics. Economics threshold concepts are cornerstone concepts that facilitates your understanding of most of the content covered in Economics and its application to the real world. We will explore how workers in a business combine with other inputs in production to produce goods. More importantly, how do businesses increase production and at what point should firms stop production? What is the impact of more production on the returns of the business. How do businesses determine how much to produce? We will find the answers to these questions whiles learning Economics in a fun atmosphere
How do businesses reach across the globe?
Any large organisation has multiple stakeholders with different needs. A truly global business deals with tremendous variation in international contexts. How can a company cope with increasing complexity as it moves to different markets across the globe? In the session we will explore the key issues in marketing, operations, along with intercultural factors, which impact on the international strategies of a number of global brands. Should companies exploit the “economics of simplicity” and grow by selling standardised products all over the world, or will success come from the ability to deeply adapt, understand, and seamlessly integrate into the local market?
