The St Mary's Outreach team has collaborated with the National Saturday Club to create the Society & Change Club.

The Society & Change Saturday Club is a customised 15-week programme created for young people between the ages of 13-16. If you want to get involved in a lively, creative, and active series of workshops and meet other teenagers who have a desire to explore identity and create positive social change, then come and grab a seat at our exciting Society & Change Club at St Marys.

Our theme for this year is 'Them & Us - belonging and identity'. A big issue affecting us all today is cultural identity. In a society that is forever changing and adapting, a sense of identity can be difficult to grasp. How do we find a sense of belonging particularly in world where young people can feel ignored, and at worst excluded?

You’ll get to set the agenda, and explore big questions.

Politics - how can young people find a voice?
Belonging and inclusion - how does immigration affect our own cultural identities?
How can the Law and legal frameworks highlight injustices people face today?
How can History give us context for the big current issues in our world?
How can the Law and legal frameworks highlight injustices people face today?
Club members will develop new skills in debating and organising, make new friends, and experience university life at St Mary’s in Twickenham.

We will launch on Saturday 27th January 2024, and run for 15 sessions up to Saturday 25th May. Sessions take place from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays during term time. The final event of the programme will be in mid July, when we take a trip to the National Saturday Club Graduation ceremony, and to view the students' work in the prestigious Summer Show at Somerset House.

Club members also take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals and the Summer Show, where Saturday Clubs nationwide exhibit their work in a public exhibition – all for free!
