Why St Mary’s?

St Mary’s University gives you the best of both worlds for your studies – a green oasis in the UK’s capital! Based in Richmond upon Thames, one of London’s safest boroughs, our campus is home to Strawberry Hill House, a gothic castle created by Horace Walpole in the 18th century. With acres of green space, like woodland walks and vegetable gardens, you have the space to breathe, think, and create, while being just a short journey away from the buzz of central London.

The University has a strong sporting history, with lots of our sports clubs competing at the highest level. Athletes from St Mary’s have won gold medals at every Olympic Games since Beijing 2008, including Sir Mo Farah. And our graduates Ellie Kildunne, Jess Breach, Abi Burton, and Rosie Galligan won the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 with England’s Red Roses.

Schools & Colleges Outreach at St Mary’s

The Schools and Colleges team is responsible for organising and hosting all our on campus undergraduate open days, offer holder days and academic taster days. As part of our wider event participation, we deliver a variety of progression workshops and arrange subject specific seminars, at schools, colleges and St Mary’s. Our aim is to support students in making informed decisions about higher education, from advising and guiding learners through the UCAS application process, to preparing them for life as a university student.

We work closely with employers who visit campus to offer internships, placements, and insights into the world of work. Our vocational courses, like Physiotherapy and Teaching, have a placement built-in. We also run lots of different projects to support your employability. You can apply for our internship scheme, giving you paid, relevant work experience. And we run Start-Up St Mary’s, an eight-week entrepreneurship programme to develop a business idea and pitch for a funding prize.
