For the first time in 2023/24, the St Mary's Outreach Team is hosting a Science & Engineering Saturday Club.

The Club will launch during the same year as the University's new Computer Science BSc, and will also draw on other scientific disciplines taught at St Mary's and beyond.

The Club will encourage members to develop practical and analytical skills, experience different academic subject areas in real university facilities, and to consider the future career paths open to the next generation of creative and innovative scientists and engineers. A career in science or engineering could mean working at the cutting edge of the latest technology and research, in an area like aerospace, environmental preservation, software development or sports biomechanics. Using hands-on learning and real-life applications, the Science & Engineering Saturday Club will imbue members with the confidence they need to influence the future.

This free customised 12-week programme is for young people between the ages of 13-16, and is priorty places will be allocated to students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in Higher Education, or who may face barriers to accessing university.
