In this taster day you’ll get the opportunity to experience what it’s like to study Business at the 2023 Modern University of the Year.
This interactive taster day will provide you with an insight into what it would be like to study Business at the award winning Nottingham Business School. Lead by our academics and current students, you will have the option of choosing which two different area of business you’d like to experience, so its perfect if you’re not sure which area of Business you would like to study.
In the Business Management session you will create a new business offering in response to a brief, and then present your ideas. You will explore many aspects of managing a business particularly; innovation, marketing, business operations and finance. Will your group be able to come up with a proposal that is both appealing and viable?
Learn all about Accounting and Finance as you learn how to do a basic income tax computation. We will look at the different types of income an individual receives, the different rates at which these get taxed and the different allowances an individual is entitled to. By the end of the session, you may be able to work out a tax refund due to a family member or friend by HMRC!
The International Business session will explore how a number of companies face the challenges of operating in VUCA world [an environment full of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity]. You will consider aspects such as Marketing; Operations, supply, manufacture outsourcing, transport, logistics; Strategy; ownership of the brand; and intercultural factors
You will have the opportunity to build and simulate your own paper chain factory in the Economics session and learn about one of the core threshold concepts in Economics. Economics threshold concepts are cornerstone concepts that facilitate your understanding of most of the content covered in Economics and its application to the real world. We will explore how workers in a business combine with other inputs in production to produce good and how do businesses increase production and at what point should firms stop production?
You’ll also have a chance to ask questions to current Business students and find out from academics what varied career pathways this degree opens.
This experience can also help your Personal Statement stand out.
