Event Summary:
The Academic Enrichment Programme is a week-long residential in August (19-23). Students will have the opportunity to experience what it is like to live and learn at a Research-intensive University by staying the University Halls of Residence and attending academic lectures in a field they are interested.
Students will take part in social activities in the evening, giving the full student experience. There will be a team of undergraduate ambassadors working throughout the event who will be on hand to ensure everyone has a great experience. These ambassadors will be paired with students at the end of the residential phase of the programme and will then guide the students through the UCAS process via e-mentoring support throughout Year 13.
There will also be two study skills sessions taking place at Christmas and Easter, giving students more support in their studies. An end of residential celebration event after the Easter study skills session will round off the programme.
This programme will allow the students to develop a relationship with academics in their field of interest. They will be able to explore different topics within the academic stream and ultimately raise aspirations and have a better insight into the subject that they are interested in. The programme will instill confidence in the students, as they will be meeting people from all over the country. The weekly contact from a current undergraduate through e-mentoring will guide them in their choices regarding higher education, and ensure they reach their full potential and make the best possible choice.
