University Experience days at the University of Central Lancashire are designed to give students a hands on experience of subject specific areas. The Archaeology Experience Day will do just that.

Want to do archaeology rather than watch it on television? Come and experience what archaeology is all about on the University of Central Lancashire Archaeology Open Day, 1st May 2013. After an introductory talk, spend the day doing archaeology with staff and students at UCLAN. With its state of the art facilities and world leading archaeological staff, you will learn some of the behind the scenes methods of archaeological investigation. Activities show how UCLAN archaeologists explore the past, looking at artefacts, landscapes, and scientific equipment. Activities through the day will include:
• Analysis of Ancient Stone Tools: From California to Cumbria; Skeletal Investigation:
• Learning from Bones: Human and Animal Skeletal Analysis
• In the Laboratory: new techniques of archaeological analysis
• Lasers and Landscapes: Digital Mapping and Visual Recreation
