Full event details

The human brain is a wonderful thing. It allows us to think, remember, communicate, make decisions and navigate the world around us, often without us even noticing the incredible work it is doing. However, the brain can also go wrong. Damage caused by brain injury, illness or physical disease can impact how it functions, sometimes in profound and unexpected ways. Importantly, different areas of the brain are typically involved in different functions, meaning that where damage occurs can lead to very different limitations and changes in a person’s everyday life. Come explore some incredible case studies and classic psychological experiments that reveal just how remarkable the human brain is and, at the same time, how devastating it can be when its functioning is impaired. Along the way, we will consider what these cases have taught us about psychology and behaviour and what they reveal about the extraordinary complexity of the human brain.
