Human Geography taster session: Could digital technology and the youth vote change the political map

For the first time ever, 16-year-olds will be able to vote in the next UK General Election. In this university taster session, we'll map out how your generation’s vote could influence results, and how apps, algorithms, and digital tech are changing political campaigns.

To see how geography, politics, and technology collide, we’ll explore questions like:

• How might 16 and 17-year-olds actually vote? Could it change who wins?
• Does your postcode dictate your politics? How much does your hometown influence your views?
• Why do politicians target different people in different places? (And how do they find you online?)
• Does social media make it easier to get involved? Who actually uses it for politics?

This session also includes a Q&A with our academic staff and current students.
