In this session we will do a short guided drawing exercise, no specialist drawing experience is needed; just curiosity about outdoor spaces and how they can be understood, represented and improved.
Landscape architecture is about designing outdoor places where people and nature can thrive together. In this interactive online taster session, you will learn how landscape architects look closely at the spaces around them and use simple drawing techniques to understand how those spaces work.
Using a view from your window, a photograph, or a familiar outdoor space, you will explore how trees, plants, paths, walls, buildings, ground levels, light, shade and movement shape the character of a place. The session lead will demonstrate how to make a plan drawing and a section drawing: a simple cut-through drawing that helps show how people experience a landscape, and how natural and built elements define space.
This session also includes a Q&A with our academic staff and current students.
