Physical Geography taster session: Adapting to changing mountain climates

Mountains are hotspots of climate change, warming faster than the global average. This accelerated rate of environmental change poses challenges for people living in mountainous regions and beyond. We need to limit this damage, by drastically cutting carbon emissions while also addressing the need to adapt to climate change.

Here we will cover the following questions:

• Why are mountains warming more rapidly than surrounding areas?
• What are the physical impacts of climate change in the mountains?
• Who is affected by mountainous climate change, and how?
• How have people tried to adapt to this changing environment?
