Physics taster session: Black holes - Big and small

Two Nobel Prizes awarded in the last decade have highlighted the discoveries of black holes. But how do you go about detecting them?

Led by astrophysicist Professor Paul Crowther from the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, you'll explore how black holes can be detected using a range of techniques. You'll learn how these techniques exploit their high masses, which span millions to trillions of Earth masses.

You'll also be introduced to our undergraduate physics and astronomy courses, and have the chance to get your questions answered by a current student.
