Criminology taster session: Police misconduct - crossing, not holding, the thin blue line?

The police are expected to enforce the law, not break it. What happens when they do? What forms does police misconduct take, and how is it responded to? In this interactive session, we will explore criminological debates about police misconduct ­– acts or omissions by individual police officers or groups of officers that breach legal, ethical, or professional standards. Using examples from policing in England and Wales, we will consider different forms of misconduct, and some of the ways in which they are responded to, and officers are held to account.
