University event offered by Birmingham City University
Short Session Delivered at Birmingham City University
Letterforms are one of the fundamental building blocks of visual language, literally language made visual. Using the body as a sculptural device, students will explore the alphabet through a three-dimensional and time-based lens, creating experimental letterforms through the body. Students will use photography to produce an expressive and experimental series of work using our state-of-the-art photography studio and equipment. The session will begin with a short contextual talk, showing artists who have used their bodies or traces of the figure to create a unique coded language, pulling from historical and contemporary examples. Photographs of the unique outcomes created will be shared with participants and collated into a short film.
