Smartphones heat up when the System on Chip (SoC) works hard — gaming, video, AI, charging. If the SoC gets too hot, the phone slows down, the screen dims, charging can stop and the phone may shut down.

Manufacturers use heat spreaders, vapour chambers, and thermal materials to keep everything safe. In this masterclass students will design a cooling system that keeps the phone safe, fast, and cool.
