Our Year 12 and Year 13 Discovery Day gives students the opportunity to experience university life, explore potential degree subjects and make informed decisions about their future.
Designed for schools and colleges, the event offers an engaging introduction to the University of Birmingham through interactive subject taster sessions, opportunities to meet current students and academics, and the chance to explore our beautiful Edgbaston campus.
Whether students already know what they want to study or are still considering their options, Discovery Day provides valuable insight into studying at a leading Russell Group university.

Students will:
Attend two interactive subject taster sessions delivered by University of Birmingham academics.
Choose from a wide range of subjects across the arts, humanities, social sciences, engineering, science, medicine and health.
Experience university-style teaching and explore subjects linked to their A-levels and future aspirations.
Meet current students and learn about university life.
Explore our award-winning Edgbaston campus.
Receive information to help them make informed decisions about higher education and future study.
Who can attend?
The event is open to Year 12 and Year 13 students attending schools and colleges.
Teachers and advisers are invited to register groups of students.

Date: Wednesday 16 September 2026
Students will take part in two subject sessions, with an optional campus tour available at the end of the day.
Book your place
Teachers and advisers can register their school or college and reserve places for students online.
Places are limited and subject taster sessions are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early booking is recommended.
Bookings close on Friday 11 September 2026.
