This taster session encourages you to engage with the concepts of self-defence and reasonable force from legal/ criminological perspectives, including: the difference between a justification and an excuse regarding self-defence, issues with self-defence as a defence to crime, and what sort of conduct constitutes reasonable force, according to the law of England and Wales. 

This taster course is open to students in Year 11 (GCSE or equivalent year),  Year 12, Year 13 (final year A Level/IB students) and anyone who is thinking of starting their undergraduate studies in September 2026 or in September 2027.
