Schools Research Symposium: 5 July 2026, University of Warwick
School students, their families and friends are invited to attend a ‘Young Researchers Symposium’ in which 10 schools in the Midlands and 10 partner schools in China will all present the results of their research project ‘Salty Solutions’ on the effects of minerals, including sea water, on the growth of plants, carried out in collaboration with the Universities of Warwick and Birmingham.
The rapidly growing population and shortage of freshwater pose a serious threat to global food security. Our young researchers are investigating how salt-water farming could transform the planet’s most abundant water source into a sustainable solution for a warming world.
This schools event will form an important part of a wider International Symposium, 5-7 July 2026: Metals of Life: Transforming Health, Energy, and Environment
