This event is free to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and eligible students can also receive a travel bursary to attend the taster day.
As an attendee, you will participate in two hands-on sessions:
Session 1 (Pharmacy): Mix, Make, Heal: Create Your Own Treatment
Step into the world of Pharmacy and discover how everyday treatments are created. In this hands-on session, you’ll design and create your own soothing skin cream while discovering how science turns simple ingredients into effective treatments. From mixing and measuring to understanding texture and function, this session gives you a real taste of what it’s like to develop products that patients use every day. Get ready to put on your lab coat and bring science to life!
Session 2 (Pharmacology): The Science Behind Pain Relief
Ever wondered how pain is sensed and how it can be switched off? Whether you're curious about neuroscience or drug action, join us for a hands-on session where you'll explore the fascinating world of anaesthetics as a Pharmacologist. In this activity you'll discover how your body detects pain and how anaesthetics interfere with pain signal- no needles involved, just science!
This taster day will be held at our Whiteknights campus and will run from approximately 10:00 – 15:30 (or 16:30 with an optional campus tour), allowing you time to really immerse yourself in the subject and relevant department. More information will be made available following registration.
