Join us for this two-day introduction to game development, designed for technical and creative 14 – 17 year olds. Based in our fantastic Games Academy facilities and taught by our expert staff, you’ll be immersed in the world of game production and will gain valuable experience for future study.?  

In this course you will learn about what is required to make a game, covering how games are produced, what common roles exist in game development teams and the various technologies used to create games.??  

You will also get hands on with Unity Game Engine to create a small playable demo, learning skills such as Asset Creation, Level Design and Scripting.?  

On this course, we will:  

  • Dive into the process of Game Creation, with an introduction to the game development process and a look at the commercial games market.??
  • Explore the different roles in Game Development Teams, giving you more of an understanding of how they might fit your skills in the future.?
  • Look at the basic operations in a Game Engine, working with Unity Engine to explore Asset Creation, Level Design and Gameplay scripting.?
  • Get hands-on, helping you to produce a short playable game demo.

By the end of the day, you will:  

  • Have gained a working knowledge of the Game Development Process.?
  • Have created a working playable game demo to take home.?
  • Have expanded your technical skillset and developed your understanding of the games market, for future study. 

This course is based in our Games Academy space in the Design Centre on our Penryn campus and you’ll be taught by our experienced Falmouth University staff.

The course includes refreshments, lunch, and all materials you’ll need for the course. Please note: residential accommodation is not provided.
