Engage your students in a dynamic, multi-session Lion’s Den-style challenge where they develop a business idea, create a simple plan, and pitch their concept. A flexible, skills-focused workshop ideal for boosting creativity, teamwork, and confidence across mixed-ability groups.
Introduce your students to the world of business and innovation through Arden University’s Lion’s Den entrepreneurship masterclass. Designed as a flexible, multi-session programme, this workshop guides learners through the key stages of developing and presenting a business idea, building confidence and essential skills along the way.
Delivered mostly in person, the masterclass combines interactive teaching, group work and structured independent tasks. Certain elements may be completed online under teacher supervision, offering schools and colleges additional flexibility when timetabling the activities.
What the Masterclass Involves
Across the sessions, students will:
- Take part in guided tasks to spark and shape a business idea
- Work together to outline the core features of a simple business plan
- Prepare a short pitch using presentation software
- Present their idea to a panel in a supportive Lion’s Den-style format
- Receive feedback to help them reflect and refine their thinking
The workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of enterprise in an accessible and engaging way. While suitable for those studying business-related subjects, it requires no prior business knowledge, making it appropriate for mixed-ability groups. The multi-session format gives students time to develop ideas more deeply, practise their presentation skills and build confidence in working as part of a team.
The experience supports the development of wider transferable skills, including communication, problem-solving, creativity and critical thinking. At the end of each academic year, Arden University recognises exceptional pitches, with a prize awarded to the strongest idea submitted across all participating schools and colleges.

Arden University is committed to actively engaging with schools, colleges, education providers, and community groups. Our activities are specifically designed to empower groups traditionally under-represented in Higher Education, helping bridge the gap for students from diverse backgrounds and supporting their academic journey.
We also offer bespoke talks and workshops, including academic subject masterclasses, upon request. While priority is given to Arden Aspire partners, we encourage all UK schools, colleges, and community groups to reach out and discuss your specific requirements.
All activities must be delivered to a proportion of students from less advantaged backgrounds.
