"Creating Character" - Drama and Theatre AberWorkshop
This practical workshop will look at different ways of creating, developing and refining character for a number of different theatre forms. It is available in a 45-minute version or a 90-minute version and may be delivered in schools or in the Department. The workshop may be geared towards improvising action, or towards work on specific pre-prepared texts. It will apply basic techniques from Stanislavski (starting from units and objectives, and tempo-rhythm) and Brecht (starting from third-person narration). Different levels of complexity may be applied to the exercises for different year groups. Ideally the workshop would be presented to groups of 10-14 students, but adjustments can be made for larger or smaller class sizes. Please contact beforehand, particularly in the case of larger classes.
AberWorkshops are designed to be interactive and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into university study and subject pathways while encouraging critical thinking and discussion.
