An academic Life Sciences workshop relating to the topic of wearable technology in sport, taught by an Aberystwyth University lecturer.
AberWorkshops are academic workshops, available in a variety of subjects, delivered by Aberystwyth University experts, conducted face-to-face or virtually.
"Wearable technology in sport, exercise and health" - Life Sciences AberWorkshop
Monitoring athletes, such as rugby and tennis players, can help improve performance via better training. Developments in technology means access to self-monitoring devices such as physical activity watches are available to most people. This means that measurements that used to be complex are now easier and more accessible. Analysing a runner’s technique, or a Parkinsons’ patient’s walk analysis can now be done almost instantaneously. The contents of this workshop can be tailored to address particular topics within the curriculum such as how technology can be used in rehabilitation, sport or general health for example how the heart functions and how it can be measured using electrocardiography.
AberWorkshops are designed to be interactive and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into university study and subject pathways while encouraging critical thinking and discussion.
