AberWorkshops are academic workshops, available in a variety of subjects, delivered by Aberystwyth University experts, conducted face-to-face or virtually.
"DNA Discovery" - Life SciencesDNA underpins a whole range of research we do in the Department of Life Sciences. Understanding its structure, and properties are central to this. In this workshop students will experience how we extract DNA in a research laboratory. We then investigate how mutations in DNA can provide us with different genetic fingerprints using restriction enzyems and use gel electrophoresis to visualise these.
AberWorkshops are designed to be interactive and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into university study and subject pathways while encouraging critical thinking and discussion.
