AberWorkshops are academic workshops, available in a variety of subjects, delivered by Aberystwyth University experts, conducted virtually.
"Is Britain a patriarchal society?" - Sociology AberWorkshopWhat is patriarchy? Does it still exist in the contemporary UK? Is there still inequality between women and men? Can women and girls ‘have it all’? Are men and boys losing out if gender relations change? And what is the role of feminism in all this? This workshop will explore these questions and invite a critical engagement with the popular term patriarchy, examining its usefulness in light of continuing and new forms of gender inequality and the resurgence of feminist activism, as well as an increase in misogyny across multiple social sites.
AberWorkshops are designed to be interactive and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into university study and subject pathways while encouraging critical thinking and discussion.
