"Analysing Crime and Criminal Conduct" - Law AberWorkshop
The criminal law has wide reaching consequences for all those involved with the criminal justice system and for society as a whole. But what does an effective criminal justice system look like and how easy is this to achieve? This session explores the purposes and principles of the criminal law and analyses the boundaries of criminal conduct; illustrating why ‘crime’ is so difficult to define and to legislate for, and how societal attitudes to crime may vary across history and the world. We will explore some of the great moral and legal debates and ask ourselves how the law should decide which acts constitute criminal offences. Should assisted dying, or recreational cannabis be legalised? Should a 10-year-old be criminally responsible for their actions? Should we adopt Good Samaritan laws? Can killing someone ever be the right thing to do? This workshop provides plenty of opportunity for interaction with discussion of hot topics and moral dilemmas to debate.

AberWorkshops are designed to be interactive and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into university study and subject pathways while encouraging critical thinking and discussion.
