This session will explore the human kidneys, how to look after them and some basic information on the challenges patients face when their kidneys have failed. With an interactive task, you'll learn content from the Nursing (Adult) degree and hear from current Nursing students too.

This Adult Nursing session will briefly explore the human kidneys, how to look after them and some basic information on the challenges patients face when their kidneys have failed. The session will involve taught content from the Nursing (Adult) degree, an interactive task and a chance to ask questions and chat with the Nursing programme lead and current students!

By the end of this interactive taster session, you will be able to:

Describe the basic anatomy of the urinary system and the kidneys
State the function of the kidneys - Identify main causes of damage to the kidneys
Describe what chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end stage kidney disease (ESKD) are
Describe, at a basic level, the dietary and fluid restrictions that may be necessary to manage kidney disease.
