A range of talks from our School of Creative Industries 

Option 1: Title: Creative Digital Music Workshop 

This hands-on Digital Music workshop introduces students to creating and experimenting with music in Ableton Live using MIDI launch controllers.  

Aims and objectives, introduce students to the fundamentals of digital music creation through performance using Ableton Live Session View.  

Encourage experimentation with electronic, dance, and hybrid sound  

Develop confidence in exploring musical ideas collaboratively in a low-pressure environment 

Foster creativity and improvisation in constructing tracks in real time 

Option 2: Title: Everything’s a Remix 

In this workshop, students will explore the art of remixing music tracks by working with pre-recorded stems in Logic Pro (or Ableton 12). Students will experiment with sampling, chopping, rearranging, and transforming sounds to create their own unique versions of tracks. 

Aims and objectives, to introduce students to the creative process of remixing and reimagining existing music 

To provide hands-on experience with digital audio workstations (Logic Pro or Ableton 12) and music production techniques 

To encourage experimentation with sound through sampling, chopping, rearranging, and transforming pre-recorded stems 

To foster creativity and confidence in producing original music derived from existing tracks
