Full event details

We’re inviting students in years 10-13 to join us on campus for a day packed with activities! Explore our departments in psychology, life sciences, engineering, and maths as they deliver exciting taster sessions inspired by this year’s theme: 'Curiosity – what’s your question?' Students can choose 2 taster sessions to attend, such as our computer science taster, 'AI Under the Hood'.

The Essex Science Exhibition will run from 9.45-2:30, and is open to bookings from school groups as well as individuals who would like to attend.

Choose from these exciting taster sessions:

  • AI Under the Hood: Step into our computer labs to explore how AI understands and generates language for real-world applications.
  • Life out of thin air: the microscopic world of bioaerosols: Investigating microbial air quality in schools and contributing to ongoing research.
  • Curious about creativity? What is it, can it be enhanced, and what is its role in the age of AI?: Explore what creativity means in the age of AI and discover how humans and machines compare.
  • Predators v Prey – who wins? Maths decides:  Using mathematical models to understand ecosystem dynamics.
  • A Day in the Life of a Sports Scientist: Test Your Limits!: Measuring fitness and reaction times in a sports science setting.

The programme for the Essex Science Exhibition, including futher details of planned activities and timings for the day can be found on our website.
