Get stuck into Criminology and Sociology through immersive, hands-on activities. You'll explore topics you won't have covered in school, and discover how these subjects help us understand real-world issues, from crime and justice to identity and inequality.
Designed for Year 12 and 13 students, this taster day offers a hands-on introduction to Criminology and Sociology at university. Through interactive sessions and independent activities, you’ll explore topics you won’t have covered in school and see how social sciences help us make sense of real-world issues.
Past sessions have explored everything from investigating human remains in Forensic Anthropology, to tackling retail crime, challenging myths about refugees, and uncovering how poverty and inequality shape society. These activities give a taste of the topics you could study at undergraduate level (sessions subject to change).
You’ll also hear about FutureSim, an exciting new development coming to our Oxstalls Campus, launching in 2026 to support innovative learning in the social sciences.
