Session time: Thursday 12 February, 4.15-5.00pm

In this session, Clare Precey, Associate Professor in Politics and Journalism at UEA, will bring 25 years of experience as a broadcast journalist in national and local radio and TV to run an interactive skills and insight workshop for students on The Journalist’s Toolkit.

What does it take to be a journalist in the digital age? You might be surprised at some of the new (and old) things you need in your toolkit.

Journalism is changing fast, each year a new set of skills are required to do the job, and we have to be ready to adapt to them.

From smartphones to cameras and from curiosity to people skills, in this session we’ll look at some of the practical skills you can develop as well as the all-important mindset and approach.

Suitable for: Aged 16+ pre-university students studying, or with a possible interest in studying, Journalism and related disciplines. Student groups as well as students and teachers joining individually are very welcome.
