Focus on Your Future: Make Your Statement
From September 2025, UCAS personal statements will follow the new three-question format. To help students prepare with confidence, the University of Derby is hosting Focus on Your Future: Make Your Statement — a practical and supportive afternoon designed to make the process clearer, easier, and more engaging.
Schools and colleges are invited to book onto one of our afternoon sessions on either Wednesday 15 October 2025 or Wednesday 22 October 2025, running from 12:30 to 15:00. Both afternoons follow the same format:
Brainstorm & Discover – explore skills, achievements, and passions, while learning exactly what universities are looking for.
Draft & Structure – turn ideas into a clear, compelling, and well-organised first draft.
Refine & Perfect – polish statements with expert feedback to ensure they stand out for the right reasons.
This event is designed to be accessible, interactive, and confidence-building. By the end of the workshops, students will leave with:
- A clear understanding of the new UCAS personal statement format.
- Practical strategies for answering the three questions effectively.
- A strong starting point for developing their own statement.
- Insight into what universities value in applications.
Focus on Your Future: Make Your Statement offers schools and colleges a valuable opportunity to equip their students for success in the new UCAS application process.
