Discover what it's like to study a creative subject at university. Our hands-on Industries Days give Year 12 and Year 13 students the chance to explore courses, meet staff, and experience specialist facilities in the School of Arts, here at the University of Derby.
This November 2025, the University of Derby’s School of Arts is hosting two Creative Industries Taster Days for schools and colleges. These free events are designed to give Year 12 and 13 students an exciting and practical insight into creative university-level study.
Each taster day will feature interactive, subject-specific sessions delivered by our academic staff in specialist teaching spaces. Students will have the opportunity to explore new disciplines, meet lecturers, and gain a real sense of what studying a creative course at Derby is like.
Day 1 will take place on Wednesday 5th November and will include workshops in Graphics / Illustration / Fine art / Animation / Photography / Dance / Fashion
Day 2 will run on Wednesday 19th November and will feature workshops in Film / Media / Photography
On both days, students will take part in one morning and one afternoon session in different subject areas. Each session is designed to be hands-on, engaging, and reflective of the university experience in that subject.
In addition to the subject workshops, the day will also include a welcome presentation, lunch break, and closing session.
