University event offered by University of East Anglia
Short Session Delivered online
Session time: Wednesday 18 June, 16.00-16.45
In this Linguistics/Psychology session, Lily Basley, Lecturer in Speech & Language Therapy at University of East Anglia and practicing NHS Speech and Language Therapist, will run an interactive scenario based workshop for students on the Children’s Language Development.
Believe it or not, newborn babies do not come with a 'how-to' manual on teaching them how to speak. So how do they do it? In this interactive session, we will look at language development from a linguistic and psychological perspective to discover how children develop from babbling to talking. We will apply theory to practice and reflect on the role communication partners play in this process.
Suitable for: Aged 16+ pre-university students studying, or with a possible interest in studying, Linguistics, Psychology and related disciplines. Student groups as well as students and teachers joining individually are very welcome.
