March 26 @ 13:30-14:15.
Dr Matthew Voice, Assistant Professor in Applied Linguistics at University of Warwick, will help students explore using linguistics to work effectively with artificial intelligence systems such as ChatGPT. The session will interactively reveal linguistic strategies for helping AI produce good information and for evaluating the quality of AI outputs. Participants will explore:
How do we construct language to ask AI good questions?
How do we evaluate the language in AI outputs to choose good responses?
How do we ethically include AI outputs in academic writing?
Students will gain insights into ways to use AI to support their writing in school, and see ways that studying language, linguistics, and communication can build tools to work effectively in any professional context.
