University event offered by Heriot-Watt University
Half Day
The Multilingual Debate aims to encourage interest in modern social issues whilst setting language learning in a realistic context. Two multilingual teams argue for and against a motion of topical interest, with speakers delivering their views in their native languages (French, German, Spanish, English, or British Sign Language (BSL)). The audience participate in the debate by listening to live interpretations provided by our students and voting on the motion.
After the debate, students have the opportunity to undertake a tour of our world class facilities in the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies.
