University event offered by York St John University
Short Session
About the event:
The event is an ideal opportunity for Year 12 students researching their options and exploring what it's like to study at university level. It is also a great opportunity for Year 13 students who have not yet applied to university and mature students who are considering returning to learning. Unlike an Open Day, the whole Subject Showcase Day will be full of taster sessions for our subjects. Each session will last 1 hour, and students can attend several sessions. It's a great opportunity for students to explore what they might like to study at university.
Session B: 11.15 - 12.15pm

In this session, you will explore how we perceive our surroundings and how our cognitive maps use place names and landmarks to help us locate destinations and services within a city. Essentially, you'll learn how we rely on our mental image of the city to navigate it.
