For many, the images that come to mind when thinking about prematurity is tiny babies in incubators, but it is so much more than that.

Join Dr Rachel Collum, Lecturer in Psychology, and Anna Hutchinson Lecturer in Children and Young People’s Nursing Practice to hear from multiple perspectives including:

  • Neonatal consultants and nurses
  • Allied health professionals
  • Charities
  • Parents
  • Young people/adults born pre-term themselves

We will discuss what a neonatal stay is like for families, why Family-Integrated Care is so important, and the long-term impact of prematurity.

Understanding multiple perspectives and working with people with lived experience is so important for translating the family voice into practice. This session will highlight some of the ways we can do this.

The event is a great opportunity for students who are interested in the following courses:

  • BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice
  • BSc (Hons) Children and Young People’s Nursing Practice
  • BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice
  • BSc (Hons) Midwifery
  • BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy Accelerated
  • BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care
  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology
  • MBChB Medicine
