This online taster session will give you an insight into what it's like to study Physics & Astronomy at university. You'll have the chance to hear from one of our academics, participate in a taster lecture and engage with current undergraduates.
Quantum Physics & Quantum Technologies
Quantum mechanics was invented in the 1920s to explain the behaviour of atoms. It was incredibly successful in describing observed phenomena with great precision, but when it comes to what quantum physics actually tells us about Nature, there is still no full consensus. This has not stopped scientists working to develop an entirely new form of technologies, called “quantum technologies” that will revolutionise computing, sensing and communication.
This talk will lift a tip of the veil, and give you an idea what we are up to.
