University event offered by University of Sheffield
Short Session Delivered online Minimum students: 1
Philosophers have tended to assume that praising others is a benefit, and so haven't focused much attention on praise. This might be a mistake! We will consider some cases of problematic praise, and think about what might be going wrong. This can help us think more about what norms structure practices of attributing responsibility and praiseworthiness; what praise is, or does; and can inform how we think about whether holding each other responsible is justified at all.
Please note that this is an approximate schedule and therefore is subject to change.
