This interactive, student-led session will introduce you to some of the ethical, moral and practical dilemmas intelligence agencies like the CIA and MI5 have faced throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. By focusing on historical case studies as a team and as individuals, students will explore how historians analyse events and how they can use the past to deal with modern-day problems. We will explore some big questions about what liberties we have historically been willing to exchange for safety.
