Climate change and the global ‘wildfire crisis’ – unravelling myths from realities with Professor Stefan Doer.

This lecture introduces the complexities of the causes, trends and impacts of wildfires, and aims to unravel the myths from the realities in the ‘wildfire hotspots’ of our flammable planet.

The role of the Materials Engineer in solving the worlds energy crisis with Professor Trystan Watson and Professor David Penney.

In this talk we will explore the role that the materials engineer has to play in the urgent development of the next generation of renewable technologies including batteries, solar cells, thermo-electrics and heat storage.

Sustainable Batteries to support renewables and electric vehicles
with Dr Jenny Baker.

This talk will show the different chemistries used in batteries for cars, buses and to support the electricity grid. We will look at some of the problems due to mining and how work at Swansea University is helping solve this.

Environmental change impacts on Ecosystems with Dr Miguel Lurgi.
