Full event details

As the festive season fast approaches, this taster session will take the opportunity to look at the traditions and conventions that make up a modern Christmas from a psychological perspective. In particular, the tradition of giving and receiving gifts will be examined in terms of why we do it, the emotions it creates and what gifts can reveal about our human nature.
Daniel is interested in how our social world affects how well we get on with each other and how important that is to human nature, and has previously discussed the psychology of gift-giving on the BBC, CNN and Talk Radio. In this session Daniel will draw on a range of research topics to fully shine a light on why we give gifts, and may well change how you think about buying and receiving presents forever!
