WEDNESDAY 2 JUNE, 3-5pm

Black Men and Men of Colour are currently under-represented in the social work profession. At this event, you can find out more about social work as a career and the training required.

Speakers will include:
- Wayne Reid, Professional Officer with BASW (British Association of Social Workers)
- Andrew Linton, Goldsmiths University of London
- Aidan Worsley, UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire)
-students currently on social work degree courses

The provisional agenda is as follows:
Welcome and introductions – a brief overview of the current social work profession

Why a career in social work? - including motivations, rewards, salaries and the areas of practice that qualified social workers engage with

Reasons to study social work at Goldsmiths or UCLan - each university offers a different route and pathway to qualification. We will look at what programme suits different people with different experiences. We will also cover issues around inclusion and study support.

Listening to the experiences of some current students who are black males and males of colour – including an opportunity to ask students about what it felt like for them.
