Full event details

Join an interactive and practical skills and insight masterclass for students exploring techniques and approaches related to critical thinking.

Dr David Holland from UEA will consider the wider importance of critical thinking, its impact on your current studies, future degree performance and career, and its constituent elements using some practical examples and exercises.

David runs an undergraduate course on critical thinking in which the tools of argument building are used equally by the scientist and in the humanities field (e.g., an essay putting across a point of view, or a lawyer proving their case). The session is therefore highly relevant to students from all disciplines.

Session time: 12.45-13.30

Our events are designed so that a group of students can take part from a classroom or students and teachers can take part as individuals, either from school or from home. This means that sessions will continue irrespective of possible school closures.

Suitable for: Year 12 & 13 students (and equivalent) studying Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, including those studying for an EPQ. We also welcome interested students from other disciplines.

The IT Setup: The event will be run on Bluejeans and participants will be able to join using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. You will be able to interact with the university via a microphone and/or typed comments and questions. Full details will be sent to those who have registered prior to the event.
