An introduction to studying liberal arts at university
Kim explains what liberal arts is at university – it is the study of various subjects and goes right back to the Greek and Roman world.
She talks about the background to this type of learning, and how it provides a person with an education that will make them suitable for life in a civic society, that serves the needs of the community. She goes on to look at the kind of ideas the liberal arts questions and other subjects it draws on.
This degree develops your understanding of history, philosophy and theology and encourages students to question what they are being told, explains Kim. She talks about the various ways you will learn such as in lectures, seminars, through group presentations and project work, and she touches on the different modules you will look at, both compulsory and optional. There are many subjects you will explore on this degree and Kim talks about how they are all connected and link to the overall degree.
Finally, she speaks about the advantages of studying this course and careers you can go into.
