Full event details

The study of psychology at NCH explores fundamental principles, concepts, and issues in the major areas of contemporary scientific psychology.

Our interactive taster session focuses on the role that psychology plays in forensic settings, with a specific focus on perception and memory. We will learn about the powers of observation and perceptual blindness, realising that we cannot remember something if we did not see it.

We examine how perception can be impacted by multiple factors creating false memory, that in the context of crime scenarios can create problematic and inaccurate eyewitness testimony and false perpetrator identifications. As part of this we learn how aspects such as verbal overshadowing, leading questions, delay and situational factors impact eyewitness accounts.

This taster will also include an introductory overview of studying at NCH, and there will be ample time for Q&A with Faculty and Student Ambassadors.
