Acting Antigone: A Practical Masterclass
This masterclass will explore Sophocles' Antigone through body, space, and speech, helping students to identify how ancient plays can be re-activated and re-interpreted in contemporary contexts. Particularly focusing on the relationship between the play's main characters and its chorus, the masterclass will help students to identify connections between theatre history and today's theatre-making practices. The afternoon will be led by Dr. Stephe Harrop, Senior Lecturer in Drama and co-author of Greek Tragedy and the Contemporary Actor (Palgrave Macmillan), and Dr Kris Darby, Lecturer in Drama and Performance Studies.
